There was a certain thrill followed by a tinge of panic when I received Ashley‘s email a few months ago about scheduling an anniversary(-ish) session with us this fall. You see, Aaron and I always do our absolute best work, regardless of the client, regardless of their knowledge of the photography world- but Ashley is a fantastic photographer herself so I felt a little extra pressure (all from us, not from her) leading up to their shoot. But we should’ve known better- and this shoot ended up being one of our absolute favorites.

Ashley and Robert met in MIDDLE SCHOOL and fell in love as they grew up together. There is a certain kind of comfort that comes with a love that long-lasting and we loved photographing it. The way Robert looks at Ashley; the way Ashley laughs with ease and joy; the way you can tell they’ve been walking hand-in-hand for over a decade. Beautiful. We met Ashley and Robert at the most beautiful location in Salem, Virginia with stunning views of the mountains and these two were up for anything we threw at them. We loved this session so much that I decided to blog it TWICE! So here is the first half of this sweetheart session (with a little teaser of what’s to come at the end… that SKIRT!!)
