We met Lauren and Rob at the University of Virginia grounds for their engagement session on the HOTTEST day last summer. We were sweating but no one was complaining and that is our favorite kind of couple. The kind that is too excited to be together to notice the heat. The kind who isn’t deterred from swapping a little sweat as they snuggle up. Most of our couples are nervous to be photographed (we can totally relate) but it’s even more typical to have a reluctant groom. Rob could never be put in that category! He was willing and ready to love on his girl from the moment he arrived and I think you can feel their joy and love in their portraits.
A huge storm rolled through as soon as we changed into outfit number 2 and we had to take shelter while it POURED on us, but these two never stopped smiling. We always schedule a little extra time in case something like this happens, and we love getting extra time to chat and get to know each other. I always tell our couples that we beg for an engagement session because it’s so much better to show up on a wedding day as friends and not strangers! This time helps SO MUCH.
We were supposed to watch R + L say “I do” last weekend at Early Mountain Vineyards but we’ll have to wait til the winter for a romantic second attempt (darn Covid!!). I told Lauren the other day that while it’s such a bummer, we’re thrilled to have a reason to keep texting for the next 6 months! (Although let’s be honest, we love the transition from “client” to “friend” and living real life together is the best!)
So here’s to a summer of loving and living and we’ll see you two in December!
