Did you see Part 1 of our Alaskan adventure on the blog last week?
When they say “distance makes the heart grow fonder” they aren’t kidding! Aaron and I spent almost two weeks on opposite ends of the country with a four hour time difference. So when he finally made the long flight from the east coast to Juneau I was pretty darn excited to see his bearded face, hug his neck, and welcome him to Alaska! 🙂
When my college roomie Caroline had baby number two life got a little crazy. So she decided to put off celebrating her 29th birthday until we got to town and we could get a babysitter for the littles and celebrate right. Alaskan style. So we packed up everything we needed and headed out for some grown-up time. It was the typical Juneau day- grey and drizzly, but perfect too. We headed to Sandy Beach to build a fire, smoke cigars, drink Alaskan beer, and walk the beach at low tide. We saw bald eagles, wandered the trails, and explored the site of the Treadwell gold mine that collapsed in 1917. So much to experience. And it was so good to experience it with good friends and my guy.
I realized that I had too many photos for a two-part Alaska series, so I thought I’d stretch it to three parts. So enjoy the next part of the adventure!
cheers!
