The Market at Grelen | Natalia + Ignacio | Charlottesville Engagement Photos | The Mallorys

Natalia and Ignacio probably won’t have much of a problem reading this post because their English is so good, but some of their friends and family might because they live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. These two came from Argentina to look at MBA programs all over the country and decided that they wanted to capture their love in the mountains of Virginia. Engagement sessions aren’t really a South American “thing” but we are so glad they decided to jump on the bandwagon and let us photograph them while they were here.
Natalia has an adorable fear of bugs and there tend to be plenty of those in nurseries and around berry bushes (especially berry bushes with blackberries the size of your fist like the ones at the Market at Grelen). It was sweet to watch Ignacio gently guide her back again and again and promise that he wouldn’t let them hurt her.
I think we made the two of them feel a little more than vulnerable and maybe even a little awkward. They came for a simple Save the Date portrait and we gave them the full Mallory experience 🙂 Let’s just say it’s not culturally acceptable to snuggle and smooch in front of perfect strangers, let alone allow them to photograph you doing it. Imagine that! 🙂
Enjoy some of our favorites from our time with these international sweethearts! The Market at Grelen really is the most beautiful spot! We can’t wait to spend another afternoon there picking blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and peaches and enjoy the stunning mountain view.
Natalia + Ignacio, we hope you guys love your portraits as much as we do! Thank you for trusting us and going along with all of our crazy suggestions!! Congratulations again on your engagement! We know your wedding is going to be beautiful next April!

I got to practice my “calligraphy” creating this “Save the Date” (aka Reserva la Fecha) sign for N + I.
